Statement of Purpose

BlaQue Consciousness is UCLA’s same-gender-loving organization by and for those whose ancestors where of African descent exploited by the

Trans-Atlantic slave trade.  As such it is an organization for Africans of the Diaspora; included are North America, Latin America, the Caribbean and

other continents where
Africans have been and are culturally and ethnically exploited and oppressed.  BlaQue Consciousness participants need

neither to identify as “Black” Nor “ Queer”.  Members are welcome from a Diaspora of cultural and sexual identities and experiences. BlaQue

Consciousness is also committed to representing
sexual diversity. Yet, as BlaQue Consciousness members we are all dedicated to the uplifting of the

oppression of sexual/gender identities as well as dedicated to the to the political and social liberation of the descendents of those Africans

exploited and enslaved during and after the Trans-Atlantic slave trade from Africa.
BlaQue members also need to have a strong affinity, respect and

affinity for Africa.  BlaQue members acknowledge that Africa is the creative origins of all of our existence and as such we respect, protect and give

honor to humanity’s original Motherland.
